I found this little Coleman 200A Dated 2/81 on Marketplace for a cheap price. It had obviously suffered some damage from fire with the knobs melted and some blackening. Anyhow I cleaned it up and replaced the bent generator, mantle, control wheel and, the stale kerosene and it fired right up. Just what I like, nice and easy. I guess the fire was caused by a kero leak at the control valve which just needed a bit of a tighten to rectify. Apart from the printed lighting instructions being blackened and unreadable it is in good condition.

The 200A's are a Coleman fueled lantern. This one being kerosene will be a model 201.
Have a close look at the label on the collar, should say Model 201

Hi Martin, Thankyou for the comments. As the information on the collar is burnt and unreadable I have relied on others wiser than me to supply parts. Assuming that it is a 200A I have been supplied with a 200-5891 (T66 White Spirits) generator for it. I preheated it with methylated spirits and it lit and ran just fine on kerosene.
So, my question is, can or should I safely run it on coleman fuel or petrol (dual fuel) using this generator?
Here in Australia there are varying opinions on what `white spirits' is and can be mineral turpentine, methylated spirits etc depending on who you are speaking to.
I have seen various other discussions on other posts and assumed that I have used the correct fuel. I did notice that the fuel control only needs to be opened very slightly for `normal' operation when using kerosene.

Since you are running a CF 200A generator it has a larger fuel tip than the 201 generator- that would be why you can only partially open the valve. It will run perfectly on CF with the current gen, it will just need to be preheated for lighting as it doesn't have the normal instant light feature.

You could swap the tip for a 201 tip but the 200 generator will quickly clog with the 'cardboard' tube and smaller spring they use inside. A true kero gen has a larger spring and tube. Great find BTW!

Koala, The Australian equivalent to Coleman fuel is Shellite. You can pick it up at any Bunnings store. Don't use Australia's version of white spirits or mineral turpentine.
Using Shellite, as oldfox66 said, you will need to preheat as the pickup tube in the 201 is just a piece of brass tube.

Thankyou for the advice as it has been very helpful. It may be just easier to source the correct generator. There doesn't seem to be an editing option on this forum to correct the model number on my original post.
Martin, I could use that correct collar if it is surplus to your needs :))
