Nice! An old Lux JL. I've seen one in a museum near here (in Lysekil) long ago. Wonder if it's still there. These didn't use the, for Lux, more common CO2 to pressurize the kerosene, but regular air via an air pump. Here's a cross section of the lamp. As so often with LUX, it uses a regulator to control the pressure applied on the fuel. Regardless if CO2 was used, or regular air as in this case.
that thing is heavy! must have taken two lads to get it up there. christer should go ahead and purchase it for his lux museum! frank daniel
Ha ha! Unfortunately I'm sort of running out of storage areas. Lux lamps take enourmous amount of space
can confirm! how do you store them christer? mine are currently in storage since living in an apartment has its drawbacks.
Actually there was a thread back in 2015 that touched on that very subject .. it was a bit like “Through The Keyhole “ but with lamps!
Lighthouse, I store them in the basement. One room there is where we always tossed in stuff we want out of the way, so most just lay or hang there. Out of sight...
ah yes, i now recall seeing pictures of it years ago when it probably wasn't as full as it is now, hehe. this conversation about lux reminded me of the lux blueprints from the glassworks that i stumbled upon a few years ago which i haven't come round to framing yet. but that is for a future post. @tretrop do we know what the asking price is?
that's steep, no wonder it's still there. thank you for sharing - good to know these pieces are still 'out there'. frank daniel
