I’m reminded of an old cartoon entitled ‘The man who asked for a whisky and soda in the Pump Room at bath’ as I post this, since it’s a gassie among the liquid-fuelled gems - but a lamp fuelled by gaseous hydrocarbon nevertheless. The ‘Pump Room’ cartoon depicted horrified health-spa onlookers, outraged by someone breaking the rules. So, Mods, feel free to move this post to another forum. I’ll understand. It’s not a common Camping Gaz product, though Stu found one and posted about it HERE. Serves as a wall lamp too. I have it plumbed in to a refillable Camping Gaz cylinder. A full-throated roar - oh, and I’ve two of the things. The components. John
Not a whisky and soda. He asked for a double Scotch in the Pump Room at Bath. A cartoon by H.M Bateman, published in the ‘Tatler’ magazine, April 1931.
Well @podbros, the only Gaz mantles I had in was for their large ‘Belvedere’ lantern and a bit too big I judged. I used a Tilley mantle, luckily being able to undo the upper tie not and re-tying it on the Gaz burner, which is smaller in diameter than the Tilley equivalent. Works a treat and yes, the brightness startled me somewhat. I’ll be packing it for Newark to entertain and astound! A good conversation piece.
