This strange lantern is up for auction. It has these curved air tube burner things one of which appears to be part of the generator? Also a pre-heater cup and a Brisbane marked filler cap which I think is off an Australian Handi, brass, single burner stove. Anyway, I am sure somebody will recognize it. The vent sure looks like a 242B style but I can't see how a bail would fit into the burner. ]
Got it. Handi Kero lite? Found a really good post with full fettling photos from @AussiePete. This is the first one I have seen over here, I don't know how well this one would clean up, no globe or bail and who knows what the generator is like? I guess common enough in Aussie but probably not well known elsewhere?
That one would be a nice one to get hold of. It is fairly early (late 1940s) and that colour hood is not too common.
All academic now. Someone else grabbed this at the full price of around Australian $110. I would not usually pay that much for a lantern in such condition but it may have cleaned up nicely.
@David Cully , hi there, you have as Nils says an early type 3 Handi kero pet. Very cool lantern, the light green hood/vent is not common but not rare. You can get a reproduction globe from eBay, I have a bale if you need one. You came check out the gallery to find more details about your lantern, if you need a Pricker rod/needle, they are very rare, I made my own self taught trial and error, it only has to clear the jet. Be careful when dismantling your lantern not to damage your Pricker if it is in good condition. Give it a good clean in hot soapy water, even a gentle going over with steel wool. Do you have the Handi badge on the collar? Remember not everything needs to be super shiny. Your lantern will come up beautiful. 300 cp mantle. Kerosene fuel. You will have the sun in a jar.
