Reading a post earlier and @Reinhard mentioned his Holy Grail of Petromax lamps. It got me thinking about my most desired and never seen Tilleys - the black vl1 and any floor standard other than the art deco oak one. I know a black Bretby vase sold recently on eBay but it was in a bit of a mess and I didn’t bid for it. You boys will probably hanker after some rare lantern or industrial lamp.

Hello Jean, on page 23 of the Tilley book there are three early Tilleys which would be splendid finds.

I'm a - relatively - cheap date really. Any BR49 will do, but now it has to be a BR49B. They ain't common and I can find one nowhere...

There's a very nice ex Swiss military FL6 in it's transit case, complete with everything in it, in the US, that would be nice. That and one of those LT track lamps would do for me.
Already have an AL21 type 4 which works very well.

Depends on what you call "holy grail". For me it is an illusive lamp which is in catalogues but never shown up.
Swiss Tilley (Hasag/Petromax) lamps can be bought on auction sites.
The Swiss Tilley big bertha is however scarce, only two known.
The Petromax Grail lamp was sold on a dutch auction site a year ago I thought: an original complete wall lamp.

For me it would be the Aladdin donut military lamp. Because of the memory I have about it when duelling over it with Fill Graff in the early ebay years.
He won because with shipping the price was getting to high.

Mine would have to be an FS1 complete with original shade.
That lamp truly looks absolutely amazing and I would love to have one.

What a great question that’s got me flicking through my Tilley book to see what everyone is dreaming of…

And to agree with @JEFF JOHNSON - the HL16 on page 23 and 31 of the Tilley book would have to be mine. I’m now surprised to see no one on here has one! So a Tilley Grail indeed…

    This has been quite interesting.
@JEFF JOHNSON my heart was all aflutter a few weeks ago when I was invited to go and see a ‘kind of Tilley’ with a fancy bit at the end of a large swan-neck. Could it be a TL5? Unfortunately it was that rough looking Lilor (more about that soon). Someone must have that early lamp surely.
@Buggerlugs remember I do have two of these.
@WimVe that’s a stonker of a lamp that Aladdin donut.

Finding the front part and burner for my AL11 is my Holy Grail.

Plus a Big Bertha would be nice. .trashed-1766801794-IMG20251127120925.jpg

I would have to say you are one extremely lucky person.
I'm also happy for you as well, what a problem to have.
That is so true mate, you never know what might or might not happen.

For me it would be a CL72 but me finding one of those in the States...Well Reindeer poop would be easier.
    Realistic would be a SDR.

Plenty reindeer poop in Scotland @Dean D but CL72s are a bit thin on the ground nowadays. Looking through my Tilley Bible to check on what you boys are after my own list has grown a bit longer and now includes some that are definitely not house lamps.

When I was looking for a CL72, the only ones I found were in the USA
I eventually found one in the UK, down the country and ironically the guy had bought it from someone who only lives 5 miles away from me!

Gosh, @Janette Croker that was lucky. They are a beautiful lamp. I’m amazed that there are any in the US. Mine was one of my earliest buys and I had to go to the ends of the earth (well, Thurso to be honest) to collect it.
