Hello you all. This is probably my last purchase of this year. Unfortunately not much information to find about it on the internet. By using Google Lens I found out the name on an auction site. Some answers on upcoming questions would be very nice. Such as, the name, Bridgeport Vulcan, would that be correct? There are no further inscriptions on the blowtorch. Only the patent date and that M.F.D in the USA In the advertisement from the auction firm alcohol was named as fuel, can that be correct? Assuming alcohol is the correct fuel I tried to get the thing burning, alcohol in the preburner cup as well and light it. I hed a gasburner in my other hand to give a little help. When the preburner fuel was gone the burner only will start when I point the flame of the gasburner towards it, pointing the gasburner aside, the burner stops. But I can hear a hiss, pressure in the tank, therefore a very nice blue flame with a little help from the gasburner pointing to one of the openings in the burner pipe. But why not burning by itself? I have not tried other fuels as kerosine or petrol yet. Would this be a torch using a wick inside for the transport of the fuel? Another problem is I did not succeed in removing the burner pipe yet in order to reach the jet. I assume it can be screwed off just above the preheater cup, but I try not to destroy anything. I hope someone can give me some answers, maybe supply a document explaining something. Anyhow, I wish you all a Happy New Year! Regards, Ton Visser Wormer, Holland.
Nice old torch. The name Bridgeport is for Bridgeport Brass Co and you are right the model is Vulcan. Yours is a later version of several. I refer you to anyone who has the book Vintage Blowtorches. I do not have further information to answer your other questions. Happy New Year
Thanks Sedgman. I got an reaction on Facebook, het showed some pages of the book you mention, with a small detail, as a matter of fact a detail I did not mention. The small screw at the end of the handle, a cleaning needle.
