I have a question about the threaded inserts in the tank which the vaporizer screws into, How are they attached to the tank? I have a air pressure leak in that location and wondering how to make the repair.

    What lamp/lantern do you have?

Many are soldered but the exact fix will depend on the lantern design.

Also, check to make sure whether the leak is from the vapouriser/thread joint; or the thread-to-tank joint.

    Cheers

The lantern is a Model 950 Sea Anchor, chromium plated steel tank and what looks to be a copper threaded insert for the vaporizer to be screw into.

Repair made by scratching away the thin chromium plating to the copper coating and silver soldered around the insert fitting. The tank was pressurized and been holding steady for two hours. Looks to be a good repair.

Hi @graham baron and welcome to the forum. Simple things first; check that the pump leather is in good order (no splits/tears) and well oiled and supple?
The rubber washer in the filler cap may look O.K. but if it has gone hard, it won't make a good seal and air will escape from the tank as fast as you pump it in.
