I recently managed to restore our old X246, I have replaced all of the Gaskets and Seals cleaned the Needle in the Vapouriser but I have been experiencing some Problems. I can light it but the Mantel tends to Pulse and the actual Plasma in the Mantel also pulses and is not still or reliable. I know I need to replace the Leather on the Pump as the pump action is very poor so I fancy the Main Problem is insufficient Pressure in the Pressure Vessel.
Also the actual Top which contains the Burner Assy doesn't seem to be held in position buy anything whereas with my X246B the Top Assy is held in Position by the actual carrying Handle.
Can any knowledgeable Tilley Lamp users offer me any advice please, eg., replacement of the Vapouriser Tube Assembly........mind I would like to keep it as original as possible and whose Pump Piston Leather would they recommend, I see Fettlebox offer one.
    Thank you all.

Washers etc., can be obtained from the Fettlebox.
The fuel feed pipe is soldered to the bottom of the socket for the control cock and over the years muck can build up in that pipe and obstruct the flow of the air and fuel which can cause pulsing and poor performance, I use a length of tying wire to clear the pipe and that may need to be done several times until the wire touches the bottom of the tank and after that rinse out the tank to remove the loose muck.

Many Thanks for your Advice it's a gey good Lamp, I have cleaned the wee tubes to the top Vapouriser assembly with a cotton Bud, I didn't venture to take the Assembly abroad, so I'll give it a try.

Peter, proceed as Jeff sugested, if that doesn't fix the pulsing the vapouriser provably needs replacing.
