Hi Everybody Look what I managed to find on the Bay of E for £25! It's very grubby, but it will take its place in the restoration queue, replacement globe and Petromax Service Kit just arrived from Base Camp. Code number on the base reads 2658, which I assume is a 1985 model, perfect to stand next to my '84 version. My question regards the "Cage" around the globe. Never seen one before, is it genuine, is it an accessory, I can't find any pics on CPL or on the wider tinternet - Any ideas? Regards Mark
No idea, it could be summat they fitted in areas where they wanted to protect the globe from accidental knocks... I spy a BFG number plate on the wall, weren't you supposed to give them back. And isn't the pressed metal a lot betterer than the crap we have here, plus you couldn't make them yourself, it would solve all this cloned plate nonsense.
The cage is a little rusty, but it looks a proper piece of kit with locking clasps, and it seems to fit well! Yes - BFG Plate on the wall (British Forces Germany). Yes - You were probably supposed to give them back, nobody asked and I don't care now! Regards Mark
Did anybody notice my Pressure Lamp Fount Rotating Painting Device under the lamp? Sainsbury's about 6 quid I think, they call it a rotating cake decorating stand - but I know better!
We had one on our car, but were issued UK style plates after a spate of car bombs. Or German ones if you had a left hooker.
I've got one of those cages floating about somewhere, they were commonly found in fishing tackle shops sold to clumsy beach anglers that regularly broke the glass on their lamps. Ian
