Question about my frend tilley, he just bought x246 and there is all new gasgets and everything should be ok.
Flames are outside of the mantle, is it possible that vapouriser is too old or something like that?
It is cleaned up too but no help. [-(

When i cleaned my own vapouriser and shakeing it i notice that something is moving inside there, some cind piece of metal i think. Is that normal?

My frend lamp vapouriser does not do that!

He needs a new vapouriser because the jet is enlarged.

If your vapouriser works okay, then that's what matters, Jeff.

I think you mean the cleaning wire in the vapouriser. There should be a wire that goes through the middle of the vapouriser and pokes out of the jet at the top as a fine "pricker" for the jet (it only just pokes out when you turn the regulator to the clean position). If your friend's Tilley is missing the cleaning wire he needs a new vapouriser.

Form what you say, I gather your lamp has the wire in place and your friend's lamp does not.

I didn't mean the cleaning needle. We have those. I'mean when i take my needle out and shake the pipe something like small piece of metal moving inside. My frend pipe does not do that.
    My lamp works very fine.
My frend has ordered new vapouriser and meaby next week he can found the super bright light :D/

OK I see. Yes, I'm sure your friend's lamp will work fine with a new vapouriser. It will be just in time -the nights are getting dark early!

Probably the spring - it's possible for this to be free to move about within the vapouriser, but prevented from coming out completely by a small piece of crud.

I think its not the spring, it feels much more heavy to be a spring. spring is with the needle and looks ok.
I dont care too much because lamp is working well..

    Hi Ari Rantanen

I'm new here myself and more familiar with wick lamps but I can tell you that the old vaporiser from my 256B rattles but it still works fine. I only replaced it because the cleaning wire was faulty and it seems to be easier to buy them as a set.

I think the upper spring inside of the top of the vapouriser is meant. It works like a guidance for the cleaning wire and helps to vapourise the fuel.

Sometimes you can hear it rattle inside the vapouriser but when it is choked then there might be nothing to hear any more.
