This is my first American table lamp, except for a non restored Gloria B. The lamp is a ”Senior Powerlight lamp” made by A.G. Kaufmann/New York” around 1920. The model is in the 400 series, this particular lamp may be the 405 Rococo Design (it also came with an embossed pattern tank). The Powerlight lamps came in many variations and options of handles and shades and all had a “fancy” look resembling the European design of for example - French lamp making. The lamps is said to run on both gasoline and kerosene and the light output is 335 CP. My lamp burner air intake tube has removable metal clips on both ends. Maybe the clips are there for making air intake adjustments for the fuel chosen. The lamp has an adjustable shade ring holder for different shade sizes and is also possible to adjust in height. The shade here is an 11 inch opal dome shade. Nice lamp that goes well with my French lamps! /Conny
Hi Conny, Most excellent! The A.G.Kaufman lamps had the most style of all the lamp makers. Does anyone have any catalog info on this make? Bob
I don't have much on this company. I have one complete catalogue from around 1912 which does not show any of these kero lamps and I also have 18 miscelaneous pages of flyers and adverts which show most of the product we see. Mostly very well made fancy looking lamps and I suspect Adolf was aiming at the high end of the market. As far as I know they were also the only lamp makers in New York. ::Neil::
I have this lamp with a different shade. I would like to sell it. Can you help me find a reasonable price?
