Hi Folks, Today I acquired this beautiful lamp. I dared to classify it as a 241 because it looks very similar to another 241A that I also posted a few years ago on this same forum. Unlike my first 241, this one has no information on the necklace and only shows the number 49 on the reservoir. Now I have some questions... Is it a 241 without a letter? Did they change the necklace? I would appreciate any information about the possible version of this lamp.
Another good find and I have checked the information in the PLC., but your lantern is a bit different from the ones which are described there. 49 is most likely it's year of manufacture, but there should be more numbers before the beginning of the word Canada, sometimes those numbers are faint and a magnifying glass is required to see them. Other members may have more information for you. In my opinion, your lantern is a fine fettling project.
@JEFF JOHNSON Thank you for taking the time to comment on my lamp. I found a number 3 in the pond right where you indicated it should be. I imagine it might be the month of manufacture, or am I mistaken? It's striking that the collar doesn't have any other information, although I've seen a 241A posted by the great Mackburner that apparently doesn't have any information in this place either.
If I recall correctly the number 3 means that the lantern was made in the third quarter of 1949. It's possible that lanterns which were for export were configured differently, unfortunately I do not have a copy of the latest Coleman book, it's reputed to be a fine reference source.
