I’m sorry for my ignorance on the following. My only excuse is that I’m generally more of stove guy. That said since finding a 1950s Petromax 350cp at a local carboot a few weeks ago I’ve caught the pressure lamp bug recently! Other than the petromax I’ve been getting a few lamps going that have hung around in my father’s shed for several decades. These have mostly been Tilleys which I’m happy to say are now shining again. The last of the shed lamps is a Bialaddin 310. Having replaced all the seals and pump leather it lights but sadly leaks fuel. I initially thought it was the seal where the fount meets the vaporiser however I’ve now realised it’s the nut where the control column attaches to the vaporiser (By this I don’t mean the knurled sleeve which holds a viton seal but the part which this screws onto). It appears to have originally been soldered in place but it appears to have been unscrewed at some point thus breaking the solder seal. My question is: is the control cock/ vaporiser on the 310 the same as other bialaddin models? The 315 looks quite similar? The assembly is fairly beaten up so I’m considering replacing it and keeping the original to repair at a later date.
Hi @Oldfashionedcamper as Jeff has said photos can help with things do you mean this nut? about your question will a control cock from a 315 fit, well, it will go on.. but im not sure if it will ‘fit’ ? here is one from a 315 as you can see the spindle is shorter than the one on the heater (which i think is the same as the 310) i will measure them and post the details here so you can check your options regards pb :edit : ok here are some measurements for you ; 315 ..and the bowlfire heater
Hi, yes that’s the but I mean. I’ll try to get photos later today. thanks for the photos and measurements, I haven’t considered the spindle being shorter
Hiya aye, i dont have a 310 to dismantle at the flat, but the one off my heater looks the same judging by this image from the gallery willis & bates made lots of their parts compatible so it’s possible that one from an earlier model could be used?
