I’ve had a Northstar 2000 for around 20years. Never been truly happy. Temperamental ignition with scary flare ups. Piezo igniter is rubbish and went through a few generators too (before I learnt to fettle them). Inspired by a few similar projects seen in these pages, I bought a Coleman 201 spirit cup. Slipped it on, filled with Kero and away she went! What a pleasant surprise. Brighter ( it’s turned down a bit in the pic) than I can remember, even on a well used tube mantle. It’s been going for almost 2hrs with no follow up pumps. Looks like this tired old girl will go back into circulation again.
