Dear CPL folk, I've been absent from the site for a couple of weeks because I contracted a very nasty case of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). It whacked me very hard and I'm still slowly recovering. My symptoms were worse than when I went down with Covid-19. My advice to all, especially if you are "of a certain age", is to get the vaccine (in consultation with your medical practitioner, of course). I'll slowly go through the unread posts and re-engaged here. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony, glad to hear you're on the mend. Until recently, only young folk could get the vaccine against RSV over here. Last year I heard also us older folk could get it so I had my dose asap (I have a suppressed immunity system as I have an auto-immune illness so I'm an endangered species). The orange king wants all vaccines for young folk to be gotten rid off, to "stop autism". I feel so sorry for young Americans! Vaccines help us get rid of so many illnesses. Anyhow, take care, look after yourself and get well soon! Best regards, Wim
Sorry to hear of your struggles with RSV. I had RSV, FLU and Covid vaccination a couple of months ago. I must say I was disappointed. All the COOKERS out there said I would have access to 5G ,Bluetooth and lifetime subscription to Sky News and heaps of other crap. It only kept me from getting a variety of lurguies. Wishing you all the best.
Tony, my goodness, I thought you were just on 'another' holiday but that sounds terrible what you had. So glad you are back to usual stuff. I will have to chat to the doc when I am there next about this, though I am not 'of a certain age'.
Sounds unpleasant but glad to hear you are on the mend Tony i must admit i had to look it up and was surprised to see its quite common apparently? i will be due a flu jab in the near future so will be inquiring about this, i think best wishes pb
@Tony Press Glad you’re on the mend Tony, but so sorry you copped for that. Clear up a possible misconception for me, but it’s winter down your way. Is that the prime season for RSV as flu tends to be? Flu/Covid jabs I’ve had, RSV’s not been offered yet. Must enquire. John
Thanks for your wishes, folks. @presscall RSV is usually a “winter” disease in Australia. Free vaccination is available for vulnerable groups in Australia. https://www.cdc.gov.au/diseases/respiratory-syncytial-virus-rsv Tony
