After trying to remove the excentre ( I think the "body" might be a press fit rather than threaded) so I could adjust the rod height (the new needle was taller) for a month I gave up and shortened the rod. New seal on the excentre and a new NRV pip and we are back in business:

No, definitely threaded. I know this because I had to dismantle my N.I.B. 200 to see why the control wheel wouldn't turn 360 degrees. It turned out to be an excess of verdigris, cleaned it off - job sorted.

    That looks very tasty indeed.
Take a look at mine. It doesn't want to go. It flames up in the hood. Pricker and jet looks okay, gets pressure.
I'm wondering about the distance between the jet and the inlet tube as shown on this pic. 1/2" (13MM) seems a long way for the mixture to travel up through the pipes up top. What do you reckon?

I'll check for blockages obviously. I wonder if anyone has altered that 'inlet' distance (I'm calling it inlet, It'll have a proper name, but I can't find a good parts list. I've seen the Italian 'Solex' one... not very helpful.

For info mine is a Solar 350cp, I think Hong Kong made.

Also... I need a 'flame-spreader' / burner nozzle. Mine is broken as you can see. I may be able to adapt one from another lamp, but?

Hi Julian. If it is a 350 then the gap (if it were a Petromax or similar) should be 14mm. I would buy a cheap clay burner nozzle for a Chinese 350/500 lantern and see if it fits.
The rest is a process of elimination, assuming a good pre-heat then look for: choked up vaporiser / preston loop, jet partially blocked, jet not seating well, needle too high/impeding flow when retracted. Maybe do a dunk test and see if there are any air leaks. The lantern itself look to be in good condition so worth the effort !
