What it said in the thread title:

    What is your favourite lamp?

Make, model and why.... as a newcomer to pressure lamps I'm interested in what you all consider makes a particular lamp special and separates it from the crowd. Pictures would help too because as I say I'm new to this and unfamiliar with most models!

My favorite changes pretty regularly, usually the last lamp I've received :)

My current favorite is my newly received OL50. It's odd to me as nothing this different looking was built over here.

The favourites varies from time to time.
In a way I could say that a certain Primus 1020 is my favourite right now, because it's a lantern I have been using every night for a week now, and it works flawlessly.
This is the old Primus I have been running on nothing but white spirit for about three years now as a test, and I got an incentive by the recent "Alternative fuels"-topic to start using it again more than a week ago.
It has been on for several hours every night the last ten days.
I think I have run about 50 litres of white spirit in it by now since I started this experiment. Atleast not lesser.:

Otherwise I hardly would call a 1020 a favourite, even if it's a decent lantern.
It's a bit too mainstream to me.

One of my absolute favourites all times is a battered old Coleman 220F just simply because that is always the lantern I find myself grabbing when I actually need a non-electrical light. We have power cuts now and then, and then I like a petrol lamp that lights in an instant.
There are other Coleman who does this, but since this is an ugly used up one, I'm not reluctant in any ways to actually use it...

And I have seen a strange Do-Nut from Thermos. Looks more modern, though.

My favourite lamp is an oldish Tilley I fettled for a friend, it produces the brightest/ whitest light I have seen from a Tilley and it can warm up 2 sausage rolls simultanenously (to soak up the Beer) when the late night munchies strike

You are correct there Neil; I had forgotten about those. Unless I stumble across one in a shed somewhere my wife will have to become "much" more understanding. [-X

I've had a Thermos inverted before Christer, you are right they are a bit too modern doesn't have the same "feel" as the classics.

Here is mine; nothing special, just a bog-standard Tilley X264B but one that was never painted and has never been polished. Only 22 years old, but I like it because of the lovely patina and therefore the colour that the tank has got now. It is also a very reliable working lamp. My current favourite. Steve.

I'd say it's a tie between my Tilley KL-80 and Albert Lea model 65 for the favorite indoor lamp. The A-L is great to read by, but the KL-80 gives the space a warmth of its own.

    Matthew, what is that?
It doesn't really look like something any lamp manufacturer with any self esteem would build.
    Is it a Frankenlamp?

Gasp... Blasphemy. I hope you are joking Christer. [-X It is of course Tilley's infamous VL 1 in saxe blue, which just happens to be one of my most prized possessions. Along with the old gold one as well. :D/

    Actually I wasn't joking.

So you really mean that Tilley sold a thing looking like that!?
Putting a nice and otherwise good looking lamp into a vase resembling of a sewer pipe?
    What were they thinking... ;)

These are my two favourite lamps:

X246 Pork Pie with Optimus top on the hood and Butterfly reflector and a PL53, repainted.

Both equipped with Vapalux/Bialaddin preheater cups and custom made vaps with Petromax jets

    1351372275-favourite_opt.jpg

I had to do a solder repair because the Pork Pie lost pressure, not pretty but it works...

Mathew92, is that the same shade on your lamp as Jeff's a few posts above it?

Gave me a good laugh as well, good to see Matthew and Christer both have a good sense of humour.

    I love all my lamps equally, they are 2 X tilley X246B,2 X Tilley X246 Guardsmen 1950-1954, 1 X Bialaddin 320, 1 x Vapalux m320 dated 2005, and 1 X Bialaddin 315, the last being the type I used as a boy in the Scouts some 40 years ago.

Hi Gneiss, yes that is the same shade as on Jeff's lamp. I'm not sure of the correct name for it but I believe that it is commonly called a top hat shade. It's a good job I have a sense of humour. Like Stephan said "It's a matter of taste". Now i'm off to B&Q to buy 4 lengths of sewer pipe. I wonder if they sell it in different colours.

Whilst you're there, Matthew, would you mind getting me four lengths as well? - I'll square up with you later...

Sewer pipe, indeed - have you ever heard the like. Tut!

Buy a big chunk of parchment when you're at it!
If you make a large parchment shade for this lamp, it actually would look pretty good.
    More proportional.

Well unfortunately I could only find it in Old Gold . They have some Here although in a questionable colour. :-s

Edit: It's no circus tent but I could put THIS on it. Similar to Neil's in the gallery.

Great to see such a variety of lamps in this thread which was my hope...

I'm afraid to say that my own favourite lamp isn't a pressure lamp at all - it's my Eccles Type 6 safety lamp.

    1351728323-DSC00451.JPG

To be fair I only have one pressure lamp so it doesn't really give me much to choose from... it's a Tilley X264B.

My next favourite, again not a pressure lamp, would have to be an Aladdin Type 12 that I'm currently restoring.
