    Hi Folks,

I picked up this lamp whilst on holiday for a week up north in Portsoy.

Sorry I never took any before photos but it was in a sorry state. The paint on the brass cage had gone like burned lacquer and the paint on the tank was falling off.

A little bit heat gun and a soak in thinners took the paint off a treat.

So here it is. Still waiting on a burner to finish it off and then it's light up time :p

Only problem is that I'm now going to have to do my Bialaddin 300x which is the same colour.

I forgot to mention but I left the historical dents in the tank. I couldn't bring myself to fill them with car filler.

When it's running, I'll sit and wonder when/what/where in it's life did they come from.

The paint was from a car paint specialist. Took in the lamp and the guy matched the paint. I think it looks darker than what I wanted or expected but it looks good (I hope).

    Cheers

    Brian

Well done there Brian you have done a amazing restoration on your 300X.
The 300X Bialaddin or Vapalux, is my favourite of all there storm lanterns.
They look superb with there polished bras,s and maroon paint work with the enameled hood cap.
i forgot to say you have done a outstanding job painting the tank/font

    Thanks folks.

First time painting anything like that but more than happy with the results.

I really wanted to paint the bottom of the brass cage aswell but the "shiney gods" got me!
