    Hi folks,

just getting my 300x going again after painting etc.

When I was building it up again I thought I had lost the pricker wire spring. I had an old tilley one so I used the spring.

Spring over wire/wire into vapouriser but the wire went too far. It fails to light as the wire blocks the jet hole.

Wire out but no spring came out. Lots of gentle and then aggressive tapping failed to produce the spring.

Tried the lamp without the wire and it runs fine.

So, will it keep running okay without the wire?

    Where is the wire?

    What do I do now?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Brian, The lamp will run OK until the jet gets blocked, then you have no cleaning wire to clear it. I think you mean that the spring is still up the tube? I would try a bit of heat and quench, followed by gentle tapping. It may be just caught up on a bit of carbon in the vap tube. Worth a try anyway, just don't over-cook it! Steve.

That is a common problem, but I have always managed to remove the spring by putting the pricker wire back in through it and hauling it out again, it takes patience though.

Steve's suggestion may work too, Jeff.

Great stuff guys. Will give it a go tomorrow.

I take it the Tilley spring is shorter than the Vapalux spring!

I'll stretch it a bit if it comes out.
