1937, Coleman 168K table lamp (Made in Canada)

I reckon that this is model 168k, if I'm wrong, perhaps someone will let me know.

It was made in Canada, in August 1937, it's a twin mantle paraffin lamp, it's shown with it's pump, these are often nickel plated but this one never has been.

The globe on this one is marked made in England, Jeff.

 

No you are right on the money, this is for sure a 168K. Neat little lamps that work very well. ::Neil::

 

Interesting globe as the large bottom opening would have allowed it to be used on shade hangers.

Exactly what it was made for. This globe was never intended to be used alone. These lamps often apear without a shade and just the globe as this one but the globe is a shade protector to be used with a parchment type shade. ::Neil::

 

Hey Jeff what mantles do you use

 

I have found that the modern Coleman mantles are poorly made, so if you can find the older gold top mantles then my advice is to buy them all and if I recall correctly the number 21 mantles are the correct size.
In general, all old mantles are of higher quality than their modern counterparts, so I buy them whenever I can.
