Just had a leather cup fall off the end on the pump rod Bialaddin 300x. (Can't remember if it's a new one or not!)

I have it assembled rod with spring on/retaining washer with step/pump leather/retaining slotted nut.

Should there be a washer between the retaining nut and the pump leather?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Brian, I have had this problem before and I think that some later Tilley models had no washer between the retaining nut and the leather cup. I now always fit a very thin brass or copper washer there, and find that it is well worth doing. Steve.

Many thanks Steve. I wondered if that would work or infact stop it working properly.

Another thing to add to the list of purchases!

    Cheers

I forgot to add Brian, it is important that the washer is very thin! You need some axial play remaining on the pump leather. Steve.

Steve. Will try and get some Tilley ones.

I think the nut bottoms out and that should allow the axial play.

    Cheers

You may also like to try slotting the washer so it looks a bit like a horseshoe.

Cheers John. Got some washers on order with other things from The Basecamp.
