hello all I need some explanations because i am discovering the Coleman's lamps. I have a 242B Coleman (Sport lite instant lighting for gasoline only) built in february 1943 in Canada it is stamped on the collar in french, spanish and english.i assume it is an exportation lamp ?? And what about this brown hat ? i have only seen green ones. thanks for helping me Michel
Never seen it in brown and it is not catalogued like that either. I suspect a re enamell job here. ::Neil::
If that is dated in 1943 you could have a one off piece tbh... I thought anywhere from 42 - 47 everything was painted seafoam green and only brass founts, no nickel plating until 47 - 48....
The export version of the 242B was the 246B. From the perfect condition of the enamel, I would also suspect it has been redone. And the vent nut is the American "acorn nut" rather than the Canadian type. Original or not, it is a fine little lantern in great condition and I'm sure it will serve you very well.
