FS, just got one of these going myself , super old lamps, nice easy fix,hopefully if yours is a steel tank its sound inside...
have a try with a magnet on the base,,steel ones can corrode if not kept well, my steel one had a tank with it that had the bottom rusted away.
Hi Fiftyshades The brass ones are usually good but the steel ones may have rust problems due to age & Tilleys material choice during the war years ( scarcity of brass ) , if you have pinprick holes due to rust don't worry these can be soft soldered up & this is a fairly easy fix ( see my post on the FL-6 ) , but your lamp in the pic looks like a good'un keep us posted on your progress Stu
Hi Fiftyshades Duck egg blue in colour? Some one once told me these were RAF issue but I've yet to see the tell tale "crows foot" or to have seen any official documentation to confirm this. To date I have only ever found this colour to have a steel fount.... Someone will soon prove me wrong. The steel founts used to have a transfer on them stating they should be emptied and dried in a warm area to prevent rusting.
