AGM wall lamp identification

Here's an AGM wall lamp fount I got in a box of parts a few years ago, decided it will be one of this years projects if I can find out what it's supposed to look like.


This is the base showing the AGM tag and wall hook detail.







The top of the ball fitting against the fount has a small hole and the top of the fuel tube shows where something was soldered to the tube, possibly like this following 'Goulburn Special with AGM burner' photo;


Terry's site doesn't have photos of AGM wall lamps so I'm looking for AGM Wall Lamp variations, model numbers, catalog images or photo. Thanks, Ken.

Thank you Jeff, I should have joined the site a while ago to check the catalog section.

The gas lamp 169-B image shown appears to have the same fuel tube curve so could be correct for the fount model as well.

Luckily I may have a period correct burner sourced.

 

Hello Ken, it's possible that what you have there are the remains of an AGM., jeweler's lamp, see the image below

But then again, your tank has the hanger on the base plate, Jeff.

 

Thanks Jeff, yes the desk top lamp is similar and Terry's site has a photo of one, but this fount with base plate hook looks like it was purposed for wall hanging.

Both images appear to have similar fretwork pieces.

 

Hello Ken, the 1916 image below shows the period burners, Jeff

 

Perhaps that is not a hanger on the base plate, it may be for securing the lamp to a work bench, but I'm not certain.

Neil may have more information, Jeff.

 

Hopefully a fount supplied wall lamp image can be found to help determine if the 'G' type burner was also correct.

Always nice to have a couple of options to rebuild these.

The AGM., desk/piano lamp which is shown on Terry's website is configured differently from your tank and the jeweler's lamp.

It has a straight tube coming out from the centre of the tank.

I have no images of an AGM wall lamp and from the catalogues we hold there are none. That does not necessarily mean they did not make one because my collection of AGM paper is not complete. However if thay had made one then surely by now examples would have turned up and they have not. The only bracket lamps with AGM burners are the GS types made in Aus mentioned above. That rear tag certainly looks like it should be a wall lamp though. Can you see the fuel feed inside the tank? For a bracket lamp it will run to the side oposite the filler. If it drops to the middle then it is not a bracket lamp. ::Neil::
