    Right lads
A change from previous years, this year we will be holding on saturday afternoon ((before the drinking starts
"The CCS Great British Bake Off".
There will be a magnificent prize for the winner (yet to be blagged) judged by our celebrity panel. :^o
As the title would suggest the theme is british therfore your your stove/oven combination, cooker needs to include at least one (preferably exclusively) british element, a seperate prize for most innovative combined cooking appliance will be awarded.
Sorry no gas (that's butane, propane etc. to be clear.
All competitors will cook the classic Bero Book cheese scone. As below

    175 g (6 oz) Self Raising Flour
    pinch salt and pepper
    1 x 2.5 ml spoon (½ tsp) mustard powder
    25 g (1 oz) margarine
    75 g (3 oz) cheese, grated
    1 medium egg
    2 x 15 ml spoon (2 tbsp) milk

1 Heat oven to 220ºC, 425ºF, Gas Mark 7. Grease a baking tray.
2 Mix flour and seasonings, rub in margarine. Stir in cheese, reserving a little for the top.
3 Mix to a soft dough with the egg and milk, reserving a little for glazing.
4 Roll out to a round 1.5 cm (½ inch) in thickness and cut into 8 triangles.
5 Place on the baking tray and brush with egg and milk and sprinkle with cheese. Bake for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Unfortunately I'll not be taking part, I'm always far too busy to give it my best.
The panel is yet to be finalised but there have been whispers ;)

Nigella Lawson would be good. =P~ [-o<

(thinks) Nigella visits Annfield Plain - would that count as missionary work, then... ;)

Anyway, I think there ought to be a special prize for anyone using a proper British camping oven - not one of those US contrivances that flap about like a sh!thouse door in a gale...

Steve lives near Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (well same county I think) he could call in and ask him.
Mind you we don't want any blokes. ](*,)
Been a few Kubex ovens on eprey lately, that with a Thermidor stove would fit the bill nicely.
I think a stove may provide too much heat for the job, I may make some long legs for mine and stand it over a lamp.

    Hi Gary,

I will be there, but as I am combining trip with visits to family, with wife, with much baggage, and with loads of junk to drop off at various points on the way; all you are likely to see is me, 1 stove, 1 lamp, sleeping bag and a bottle of Sloe Gin! Looking forward to it - Steve.

I am planning on coming along for the afternoon session Gary, my trial scones were not likely to win any prizes, however I will be Baking/Incinerating.

If the snow clears I will try and make the journey but I'm not 100% sure yet. I'll bring a couple of lamps and stoves with me if I do. Is table space provided or do I need to bring my own small table?

    Hi
Plenty of table space, first come first served.
Steve Plenty of food to be had round there, this area topped a list of take aways per capita or per square mile IIRC. Indian, Chinese, Thai, Fish and Chips, Pizza all within 2mins walk I kid you not.
But you may not need it, anyone who's been to this meet will know. ;)

About to start packing a few bits together for tomorrow. Is there anyone attending tomorrow who has an Aladdin loxon chimney for around about a tenner that could bring it? I'm in need of one and it would save me getting one off ebay. Thanks and I'll see you all tomorrow.

    Hi
A meet is nothing without the people that attend, so big thank you to those that turned up.
    Good crack as usual.
Sory no photos from me, didn't have a camera and wouldn't have had time even if I had.
