hello all this lamp is for sale in a french antique shop The seller told me it is a Petromax seems to be in aluminium what do you think of that?
Looks all wrong to me. That central body tube is too narrow for it to have had a kero generator inside it and the gap between the tube and the tank is too big. The original main body tube for this would have been shorter so the reflector was closer to the tank and flared out much wider through the tank to accomodate the burner parts. So I don't believe it was ever Petromax and all that is left original is the tank and upper air vents. An Aluminium Petromax? I don't think so. ::Neil::
There is a whole line of boat lamps based on petromax donut designs. They look damn genuine but they are fake. If my memory isn't stalled by the cold temperature here they come from or where sold in Spain.
I think Wim is right, it looks like a modern imitation (could be a boat line's lamps) the seller asks for a big price ...so
