Just got wind of another "Pheonix Business Park" E-Bay buyer. Same shipping address as KG Logitech 14/15 Pheonix Business Park. This buyer is operating under the name of "HANTOHAN11" I will let you know how I get on with him. I have asked him a direct question: "Are you trading on behalf of KG Logitech?" I await his reply. Steve.

I thought I had this set-up clear in my mind but now I'm confused again!

I imagined we had a buyer (usually overseas with no direct access to eBayUK), a seller in the UK and an intermediary - KG Logitech.

So how can Hantohan11 be trading "on behalf of" KG Logitech?

It's Phoenix, BTW - more correctly, Phœnix...

These people are all linked to the website ' www.geopass.com' which is a website that allows Koreans to buy from Ebay. They search on geopas.com which effectively acts as an Ebay front site. Korean buyers bid through geopass.com who then automatically bid on Ebay using a variety of buyer ID's depending on which country the seller is located.

Therefore, the bidder appears to you, the seller, as a local bidder. Your only protection is to know the bidder ID's used by geopass.com and add them to blocked buyers.

Ebay are fully aware of the organisation and it's methods of operation. They have in the past suspended accounts used by geopass.com. However, Ebay seem to have more regard for the business generated by geopass, than the protection of Ebay sellers.

Some time ago I emailed Ebay the following question:

"There is a well known scammer based in Korea who operates a front site www.geopass.com. I wish to block him from bidding on any of my auctions. Can you please tell me the current seller ID's that he is using"

    The reply I got was:

"I perfectly understand your predicament over this matter. However, please also understand that eBay has a very strict Privacy Policy and doesn't share details of other member's accounts so, unfortunately, we can't give you the details you've requested."

The phrase "I perfectly understand your predicament over this matter" is quite telling and sounds like Ebay are aware of the problems with geopass.

A search of the internet revealed the following user ID's used by geopass. There may well be others:

    BESTBUYKG
    KGLPASS
    UKLOGITECH
    KglPass
    and now HANTOHAN

These are normally followed by a digit from 1 to 13.

Our only protection is to block these seller IDs.

You can add a term to your sale along the lines of 'NO BIDDING ON THIS ITEM THROUGH www.geopass.com'.

Just had a purchase by Hantohan11 on Ebay. I had blocked all the others so I promptly refunded the item and blocked Hantohan11..

Has anyone had any more problems with Phoneix Business Park buyers ?

    Cheers
    David

Got another one At same address "ACIEXPRESS" 14-15 Phoenix Distribution Park, TW5 9NB" This one bought a lamp from me, paid for the lamp & postage, then claims that "because it is an "ex-military" lamp he is having trouble getting customs clearance to import it to Wherever! I reckon that his forwarding customer has said "too high price" so now he wants the deal cancelled. This new bandit is going under the e-Bay name of "GETSSHOP". As soon as the dispute is sorted with E-Bay he will be added to my banned list; only to be replaced by another, of that I am sure. Steve.

That should be his problem, not yours, Steve - goes with the territory of being/using a middle-man, I would have thought. ](*,)

I have another one to add to the list. This is "kglpass8" and the shipping address " ACI Express Inc, Unit 14/15 Pheonix Distribution Park etc" I actually asked the buyer the question "are you part of the UK Logitech company?" The answer was "Who is UK Logitech?"

It is also seems that once they start bidding, the rest of the world does not seem to be able to get a bid on your item! David was right! The Pheonix always rises from the ashes! Steve.

One thing that I don't understand, why are people shipping before full payment is received? I sit on my hands and wait, and I've avoided the loss twice here in the States.

I think they pay, you ship the item and then they claim it hasn't arrived. PayPal then makes a chargeback in favour of the buyer so they end up with both the item and the money...

Our Ebay system links PayPal to pay for the postage, and that includes tracking and delivery confirmation. I just don't see that model working here. It also stinks of postal fraud which is a federal offense. I guess you get what you get with Royal Mail and the like. I'm quite grateful for our postal system.

So, has anyone actually taken some large and threatening friends to visit this place in the interest of customer satisfaction?

Can't see what it's got to do with Royal Mail etc. - they're uninvolved third parties, surely.

Anyway, RM offer a range of services - top of the shop is 'Special Delivery' which offers highly secure, tracked, next day delivery by 9am if that's what you want and are prepared to pay for it. El cheapo service is 'Standard Parcels'. Same with the other carrier companies and couriers - you can choose one of the packages they offer to suit your particular set of circumstances.

As with most things, you get what you pay for i.e. yer pays yer money and yer makes yer choice...

Hello David, from the first of April this year, the Royal Mail stopped offering the standard parcels service, all parcels now have to be sent by either the first or the second class post.

They brought in other changes too and the result is that it costs much more to send parcels now, Jeff.

Thanks, Jeff - I made that post on the 19th March so the information was correct at the time. It's good to have the up-to-date situation, though...

Since 2nd April the parcel service is now split into 1st & 2nd class & small & medium sizes. As a result most lamp sized parcels cost more than they did before. Large goes parcel-force. Parcels are now subject to a plastic size gauge test as letters have been for a while.

For smaller items careful selection of packaging can make a big difference.

Just rec'd positive feedback from my Phoenix park buyer Yujin trading , ebay name affresco4120.
so they are not all bad,it took 5 weeks for the feedback to arrive which I presume is the time it took to forward the item to their home country and for the buyer there to say the item was good.
