Hello Does anyone know something about this unusual fuelcap, marked D.R.P. I have not seen one like this before. Niels Chr.
Hello Niels Chr. I would guess that DRP stands for Deutsches Reichs Patent, although I could be completely wrong. I have seen the DRP mark on plenty of pre WWII German made items, so it may be a reasonable assumption. Perhaps a Petromax expert could tell if this refers to the Manometer fuel cap alone, or something else on the lamp. Best Regards, Doug Eisemann
Hello Doug That sounds plausible, perhaps a very rare prototype Thank you By the way, Claus and I are going to take som fotos of the Dutch army Veritas lamps we have today, and see to that you have them within this week. Reagards Niels Chr.
Hello Niels Chr. Do you have any idea how old the Petromax lantern is that this cap is attached to? I know very little about Petromax lamps, so I do not know how long the manometer fuel-cap has been used, or when it was introduced. Thank you for the photos! I will be away for some time this week, so my apologies if it takes some time to respond. Best Regards, Doug
The Pressure gauge filler cap dates from the 7th Nov 1932 German patent DE585329 by Erich & Graetz. We would need a better series of images to date the lamp here though. ::Neil::
