Hi, can anyone help me find out, what is real diameter of screws thread from Hasag Polar? It is something about 4,6mm diameter, but I'm not familiar with inch threads and have to replace few screws with nuts for new ones.

    Thanks Norf,

I measured it and it looks that 3/16" with 24 threads may fit.. I'll order few for test and check.

    Thanks,

    Michal

    Thanks dspearsy2k,

Hasag is German lantern, so I think they rather use some european standard threads and 10-24 is US standard as far as I know. But maybe you are right - I can't find any table for threads used is Germany before WW2. I'll start with 3/16 and see how it fits.

I don't know when the German DIN norm for metric threads started to be standard issue in Germany itself (but I also guess many factories first used their old stocks) but in Belgium Imperial (whitworth etc.) threads were still used in machinery and construction well into the 1960's. Often a mix of both was used (in the '60's & '70's BSA used both whitworth and UNF/UNC on their motorcycles).

    Best regards,

    Wim
