Last weekend I descided to take an item out of by barn for restore. This time my choise fell on a R1 heater with a stand. As far as I know, that model never was delivered with such, only the RH57 did. I am no expert on Tilleys so please correct me if I am wrong. Or was it possible to buy the stand as a separate option?
Anyway, when I disassembled it I find that it must have been repainted.
At that moment my thouhgs fell on another one that I restored a few years ago. The same thing had been carried out with that one, and in the same tint.
Both light yellow over gold. And the yellow painting has bee applied after it has been assembled as there is no such paint under the movable fitting at the base. Another evidence is that the whole stand is painted, even the spring, nuts, just everything. Question is why?
Is the gold only an anti corrosive ground painting or what?
I know the heater itself was delivered in various colours but did also the stand?
Now I don't know how to proceed. Remove painting and repaint in yellow, or gold? Or just do nothing.

    Hi Bo
I had one of these stands once mine was same colour as the one you have it had a R1 radiator in if I remember rightly.
here is a catalogue image that shows it in gold so probably over painted in the factory

That sounds plausible. The yellow painting did not look like made by an amateur. So maybe all stands were in gold from the beginning and then repainted depending on what colour the heater had.
