    Hey hey hey!

I am wondering how I am supposed to turn my Primus 1082 from 350cp to 500cp? I understand that I must change the mantle to a 500cp and probably adjust the mixing tube a bit to the right hight above the jet.
How much space should it be between the mixing tube and jet for 500cp?
If I am missing something that has to be adjusted please come with suggestions!

You need a 500cp jet and needle to start with. The air gap should be the same as for 350cp, but might need an extra mm.

I have found that for most practical purposes 300cp is adequate. For normal camp use I use a 200cp lantern.

Thanks for the tip! Gonna ask Base Camp if they have a 500CP jet, if I ever get an answer from them that is :p, things takes time with them but I guess it is worth the waiting.

I am not quite sure if I need 500CP. Gonna use the lamp at camping for light instead of a wood fire. Guess the 350CP is enough, but I would like to try more power just to have done it :).

Hum, I see Base Camp sells 500 & 350CP in one mantle. Would the same mantle have 500CP if the jet and needle is 500CP? I can buy 500CP mantles from Germany which are only marked 500CP.

I think it's stretching it a bit for a mantle to cover the range from 350-500cp. It might be possible though. A range of 100cp is fair to accept. Some mantles do seem to shrink to the needed size though (but not the other way :) ).

Now I am wondering if parts from Petromax will fit on my Primus, I am talking about the jet and needle.
Edit- Could someone who has both brands please try it out?

Perhaps I also need a 500CP china nozzle? Would guess that the one which already is on the lamp would be up to 500CP since it is 350-500CP lamp.

I'm afraid that Petromax jets and needles will not fit your Primus.

Thanks for the quick reply! Guess I have to buy myself a Petromax to transform it to 500CP then.

Are the Petromax 828 Rapid 350-500CP? Edit- think it is 350CP, but the question is if it can be converted to 500CP?

Found a dealer who sells 829 which he say is 500CP or 400Watt. Does this sound right?

Petromax jets and needles should fit the 1082. You are probably thinking of the Primus 1020 and all the older lamps. They have quite a different jet and needle. The 1082 is basically a Petromax clone so most parts should be interchangeable.

The Petromax 829 is a 500cp lantern with a quick starter. The 350cp version is the 828. The 828 is the model which was used by the civil defence a lot.

Hum, this makes me think. Guess I should not mess with my Primus 1082 and rather buy a new Petromax 829 which is 500CP.

To change a Petromax from 350 to 500 you just need a 500 type mantle, jet (0,24mm instead of 0,20mm) and needle (0,23mm instead of 0,19mm). Since your 1082 is very Petromax-like, I think there’s no problem.
Certainly no reason to buy a new Petromax. If you want an extra lamp with 500HK, I would recommend an older Petromax or Hipolito. They were well made, just like older Primus lamps.
