Finally I succeed to start my Vapalux 320.
Filled full preheater with meths jelly and a little pure meths, pumped well over 70 strokes -- and lo!

Of course it happens on my secret testground, i.e. concrete stairway.
    Conclusions:
1.) Primus gaslamp mantles are OK.
2.) It's possible to use there (instead of a-way-too-short string) thin steel wire from the plastic coated wires, used nowadays for tying cables and goods in factory, for sending to the shops).
3.) non-return valve in the pump is leaking. I have to fix it. :?

Well, yes, but Primus mantles have a big advatage: I may get them in a local DIY store, Vapalux mantles I'd have to order in the UK, which is time-consuming, even if one answers your e-mails...

Looks great :) I'm not sure, but I think, that petromax 250hk double hole mantle should fit and works well. You can buy it in Poland on vest.pl. I also never had problem with ordering from pelam.de to Poland, and they have 350 mantles for vapalux.

    cheers!

No disrespect intended but I could never see the advantage with Vapalux mantles...they burn up way to small IMO...Ive tried them all and found the tilley mantle is best..fitted the tilley way of course :)
