Hi All, Is anyone making replacement hoods that will fit the Bialaddin 310 in brass? or know of any 310 hoods with the enamel in good shape they can point me to? Thank you all in advance. John
Hi John, I don't think anyone will make a replacement hood for the 310 as the one-piece hood used on the 310 and the other post WWII lanterns is a rather complex thing to make from scratch. Plus I think the demand is mainly for tops for the earlier lanterns with a two-piece hood. What shape is your existing hood in? If it is not too rusty then as you are in the USA you could get Jeff at Independence Porcelain Enamel to re-enamel it. Personally I wouldn't bother as the 310 is a fairly common lantern in the UK but I suppose they are less common in the states so it might be worth doing. James.
Thank you James for the reply. The hood in pretty poor shape but the rest of the lantern I would rate a 9 out of 10(chrome plated) the hood I would say is 60% enamel and the rest rust. I think these hoods just got too hot for the porcelain to stay put. I guess I will just make do with the one I have.
