not a pressire lamp but someone wanted more photos. i have stripped it down as far as i can. the imbossing on the cover at the top reads:- THE MUFF.315.KINGS STREET.W6. the w6 could also be Wa. written in pencil on the underside of the tank is the price 6 shillings and 11 pence. on the wick winder is the name .......sherwoods Ltd. the threaded cup in the fule tank needs resoldering but i dont know if that would be silver solder or lead.
I don't know much about the lamp itself, but I recognize the burner type. I think it was built to work without any chimney glass for draught.
If I recall correctly, that type of burner is called a dead flame burner. That type of burner was used on many styles of railway lamps, Jeff.
I can read SHERWOODS, and there is a KING STREET in London - Hammersmith, W6. Though No.315 is a Vietnamese restaurant now.
depending on where you start reading it may be the product number not address number but that is interesting to know, there are no other markings on it, i suppose it my have had a label of some kind that has now gone to be with jesus! where it reads sherwoods there is the letter 'E' so there must a word there but i am unable to make it out.
perhaps they made the wick holder for the muff lamp co, or some one replaced the origional with this one.
It's just a basic 'Barton' type burner of which Sherwoods was one of the manufacturers, these burners were found in the old roadside warning lamps and railway lamps...
