This photo shows an Optimus 200 which i obtained recently, I have not restored it yet, that will have to wait until the weather warms up a bit and I need a glass for it, perhaps some kind collector has a spare one? Jeff.
Well I knew that which is why I asked. I do recognise my own photos. Too cold? Move south then. Mind you given what it is like here right now maybe not. ::Neil::
Hello Neil, yesterday and today have been bright and sunny here but not very warm. However, the ice on my water barrel has finally melted today, so I may be able to brave my shed tomorrow. I also have a Tilley TL-120 to restore, it's dated September 1962 and it's another recent find, Jeff.
Why just don't take it inside? I assume you have heating in your house. But seriously! Why don't you have a warm workshop? That's one of the most important rooms (or separate buildings) we have, and living in cold climate must mean heating and well insulated walls in garages and workshops just well as in our houses, right?
Hello Christer, I wish that I had a warm shed, but that's a rare beast in Shetland and in most parts of the UK.. Have you got a spare glass for this lantern? Jeff.
Sorry Jeff. No glass I can spare. But I think most lamp shops got the correct size as long as you not necessarily must have an original glass with the Optimus logo. I think both Base-Camp and Hytta.de has it, for instance. You must fix that shed! I have nothing against the cold, on the contrary; I just love it when it's much below freezing as it is now, but indoors it must be atleast 22-23 celsius. Which of course also goes for the workshop. The jobs you're doing will be much better that way. Or rather; they actually will be done...
Hello Christer, no worries mate and a glass will turn up sometime. The lamps and other jobs do get done, but I wait for decent weather, Jeff.
I like it just the way it is, tho a glass might be useful when the giant northern mosquitos arrive soon. The well worn, well loved patina reminds me of myself... Bud
