I know they quit selling the 335 in Canada in '77, and continued making the 335P into the 80's. I'm curious what the latest date anyone has in their collection?
OK, Jeff - here are two fresh from my garage roofspace (hence the dust ) Both marked Coleman 335 - no 'P' - and made in Canada. That on the left is February 1979 and that on the right is February 1983. How's that? I've no recollection of how (or why) I've got these but either (or both) can go if anyone's interested...
Thanks for the photos David and both of those lanterns would clean up well. A Coleman 339 might be of interest to me as it's a paraffin lantern. I'm not sure if the 335 can be converted to run on paraffin? Jeff.
Um, yes - I suppose I should clean up the unused one for the LRG but polishing's just not in my nature... Mind you, if I could get over £500 for a polished one (see the 'Gold-plated Vapalux' thread) I might just do it!
The prices on Ebay are really rocketing! Those 2 lanterns would not need to be polished, a wash would do, Jeff.
Wouldn't have though so, Jeff - the one on the left doesn't look to have been too happy with what will be panel wipe in the tank... Converted? - wouldn't have thought it would be worth it. Just get a 201...
You could convert it with a 339 gen. They arent the easiest/cheapest to find. Its the same way you convert a 200a into a 201, just a new gen and a preheat cup. They all have 335 on the collar, but no P. But it is still a 335P. And you will see they have 321 frames because the 335 frame wasn't around anymore.
