I fell into a r55 ( I think ) now I want to get it going. First the there looks to be a white part around the tube that the mantle goes on. Its cracked. Are they easy to find?

Anyone ever fix the fuel gauge on one of these? Can you get parts?

Where is the date code on the tank?

Tilley part # 165 insulation tube available from The Base Camp (sponsor link on this site) or sometimes for sale on eBay. If it is just a crack that doesn't produce a wide gap it should still work with regular inspection - at least for testing the heater).

Hi, Nice find  . You will not find a date stamp on that as I think it was made before Tilley started dating lamps. You will be able to get a good idea of date by consulting the Gallery posts and the catalogues in the Library here. Steve.

These larger tanks made after 1957 are not always date stamped. Sometimes they are marked in the base plate but the mark is small and faint. I think this one was probably made around the late 1950s or into the 1960s. ::Neil::

The fuel gauge is almost impossible to find new but can be disassembled for service and potential repair. See [url=http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/3366 for some details.
