All very nice, these solar powered led lights are far better than their home made wick thingies. But any size pressure lamp/lantern would give more light! And you can carry these into the field, barn, on the road etc.etc., without worrying about carrying loading stations around with you, or worrying about batteries that loose their power after a certain use.

    Best regards,

    Wim

I am thinking that "giving away stuff" does not help anybody, what is needed is education, education and more education, without knowledge, impoverished nations will never catch up, but if they learn how to make things better, better food, better health and medical knowledge, better land management, better ways to manage their countries, it will make a change./rant off.

I tend to agree - it merely teaches people to be dependent, as evidenced by swathes of the UK population, unfortunately.

Probably won't be a popular view...

    Right, mate! :)

BTW (hence it's Open Forum) -- quite interesting stuff:
    Zen Stoves...
    Ooooommmm... ;)

There is a common problem -- when young people from developing countries are coming to the West, they want to design sportscar, instead of improved kero/biomass stoves, human powered transport and sustainable technological solutions. Western culture (as is now, or as is seen in the commercials) has very strong appeal...

Another design in the right direction. There is quite common problem in India with tipping-over kerosene stoves and heavily burnt cooking persons. This stove has some safety measures, incorporated in design.

I like that Indian stove, I may have to find one to examine it more closely.
