I'll have a look and see if I can find anything just incase Nigel can't. You could clean it up whilst your there, I've got plenty of autosol, polishing rags and wire wool.

I've also just dug out an old PL53 which I need to find some parts for and then I'll offer up for sale once I complete it. Hoping that Pete will have the bits I need in that box of his. ;) :D

It looks like we will be able to pay you guys a visit on the Saturday after all. So we should be there from around 2pm for a few hours. I will take the controversial Hinks lamp and the two Arch lamps and I know Steve wants to see any reflectors I might have. ::Neil::

Another Newark done. The weather was good although a bit chilly in the evenings but with a bowl fire or two you soon feel warm. It was good to catch up with everyone and put the world to rights. Well attended but as Pete said there is still room for more.
There was some trading and i was able to re home a few items and gain a few unexpected pieces. Steve (shedman) and Big si shared there sloe gin. Its strong stuff and helps keep the chill out.
Thanks Matthew for the pictures and for protecting my purchase identification. I wont gaz on about that though.
Next on the calender is Ashover festival of light.

Posted on Open Forum - should be here I think.

I have been using the forum for a couple of weeks or so, maybe a month, to try and get some help in fixing my Bialaddin Bowl Fire. David Shouksmith replied to one of my posts to suggest I came to the meet in Newark this weekend as I live nearby.

Now going anywhere on a whim, to a new venue and to a very much unknown group does raise a few reservations, but the misses was up for it and the caravan prepared for the weekend, not a long tow from here, just the 8 miles.

On arrival a very friendly greeting was given, caravan sited and the break begun. We were made to feel very welcome and everyone was happy to chat, especially about anything paraffin connected. If fact it was far removed from my imagination of bushy eye browed old men peering at you darkly over a pint of beer and mumbling about newcomers. There was a complete cross section, from youngsters upwards and from the ones who have overdosed with pressure lamps to the paraffinly challenged.

To anyone who is thinking of going these are brilliant weekends, no one is left out and everybody seems to help make you part of it. You do not need stoves or lamps just an interest.

Please let me thank the organizers and helpers for a great time.

    Nick Scott

I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome at our first Newark, and a special thank you for the eggs...

A few pictures I took over the two days we were there...

First my wife keeping warm. What the picture doesn't show is that she had the Bowl fire and two gas radiators around her!
