    Hi all,

It’s Midsummer Eve today. The most important holiday of the year for us Swedes. Cheers!

Dawn on the winter solstice in Howden. Enjoy your summer (actually, I'm heading to The Hague in three days)...

Enjoy your parties Conny, and all you folk in the rest of Scandinavia, I know that it is a special time for you all :D/ :D/ :D/ . In the next day or so the days will get shorter and the nights will get longer   . What ever happened to summer :?: :?:  . Steve.

According to Google it is the first day of Summer... What is the matter with those people [-X It is Midsummer, surely the clue is in the name...

When did common sense and simple logic get replaced by Google? :(

Gneiss, I have read that the "factual "midsummer" this year is on the 23/24th June, no explaination given. They have not formally announced it because it would have buggered-up a lot of Scandinavian parties    . I am not joking, the true midsummers day is yet to come. So all the Vikings can have a re-run :D/ :D/ :D/ - Steve.

    Hi Steve,

In Sweden we stick by the rules, Midsummer Eve on a Friday, no matter what. The actual day (summer solstice) we don´t care about  !

Interesting beer can, that - obviously photoshopped in. I wondered why anyone would do that and anyway, what would American 'St. Louis ABC Old English Type Ale' taste like - vicar's p*ss probably...

So I googled the name of the beer - here - now there's a thing!

I'm guessing it's not your can, Conny...

Right you are David. Took a shot of a lantern
I´m restoring and went to our summer house. Forgot the typical beer on the image and photoshoped one into the image. Probably some US p'ss stuff, but who cares. I got the real thing on my dinner table. Cheers!

I'd rather have that empty can in my hand right now than 100 cans of any other beer you'd care to name!

    :-s What's the lantern...

See what you mean David. That´s the way things are when you´re in a hurry. Will gladly swop my lantern for that can. Made my choice of beer can just in seconds. Made the right choice though I think!

Just got home from the celebrations last night. Starting to feel better now so we're firing up the barbeque to get rid of all remains, both liquid and solid...
Midsummer is one of the absolute best festivities there is!

I lost a Coleman somehow during the night, but I'm sure it will pop up again eventually.
    Perhaps next year...

Thanks, Neil - about as rare as the beer can, then...

Incidentally, perhaps the image (less the beer can) needs duplicating in the reference gallery. Just a thought...

By the way, how was the weather up in Örebro, Conny? Hope it was good so you could stay out the entire night.
It was OK here on the "front side" of Sweden. Just a bit of thunder for a short while, but that's only refreshing in the heat.

I am starting to celebrate the scientifically declared summer solstice tonight, but it is raining here   . Need a few volunteer sacrificial virgins for the proper ceremony though  none shown up   so far   . Still the evening is young yet [-o< [-o< . Give it another half-hour then I'll give in and go to bed :-$ :-$ - Steve.

    Hi Christer,

Don’t know the weather condition in Örebro; I and my wife are celebrating Midsummer in the summer house on the “back side” ;) of Sweden, the island of Blidö in the archipelago north of Stockholm. I believe we were lucky, more or less the only place in Sweden, that hadn’t rain yesterday. A lot of shi**y weather coming from the British Isles though!

David - I will post the Akron 90 lantern in the Reference Gallery once I’m finished with the restoration and had her fired up!

It's shi**y when it arrives here from the Atlantic, Conny, and we don't add anything - in fact, we remove lots of the rain from it, just for you!

    Ah!
Well, to be honest (don't mention it to anyone) I really like the back side too, and you are lucky to have a summer house there.
That archipelago is almost as amazing as ours on the right side. ;)
Only disadvantage is that there aren't real fish in that brackish waters. ;)

We're close to the second biggest event in Sweden next to midsummer with Power Meet in Västeras coming up, so I will actually pass your neck of the woods in less than two weeks.
I'll give a honk as we pass Örebro.
