    I have very little room.
I have a perfect Chrome tilly.
I have a Vapolux in need of restoration The one the army use made in England, just needs a clean up really so which should I get rid of and why?
I think the Vapolux? if so what should I ask?

I agree with Steve. One lamp does not constitute a great saving in space. But if push came to shove - keep the Vapalux.

Put some large screw in cup hooks in the garage roof beams & keep both , two lamps are no more bother than one :D

Wait untill you get to this stage

So why should I keep the Vapolux?
I understand what you arte all saying but I just kept my chrome tilly for power cuts etc and I like it.
The vapolux has a mark on the glass looks like its been hot is this ok to use?

As I said earlier, better to keep both of them. If you only have two lamps you don't have a big storage problem (two lamps hanging up take up about 0.5m square space) If I had to get shot of one, it would be the Tilley, because the vapalux is so much superior quality. No contest - in my opinion. But, I would keep both of them!

The mark on the Vapalux glass will probably have been caused by the lantern being used with a damaged mantle.

I have found that so long as an undamaged mantle is used then a marked glass will be okay.

Damaged mantles direct the heat to one spot and if the problem is not noticed quickly then the glass will break, Jeff.
