Came across this the other day and just couldn't say no. An unused Primus 1060 in Danish military colours. The seller had had it sitting on a shelf for at least 20 years and must have come from a surplus auction before that. Only a bit of surface rust on the handle to show it's age. The original instructions and spanner were also with it.

The lamp is stamped AU under the tank so that is from 1955. The collar is marked 100356 which dates it to the third week of 1956. Possibly parts weren't put together imediately in the factory. It is also possible that the difference in date could be from when the military painted the lanterns. I assume they were disassembled before painting and there were several done in one go.

Interested to know if a model 236 Coleman lantern burner tube part no. 236-324 will interchange with the 1060 Primus burner tube.

I have never tried so I don't know. I don't have a 236 either so don't have the opportunity to try. My guess is that they aren't the same. I believe the burner cap is interchangeable though.

It might fit. Just about everything else is compatible. This lantern is pretty much a Coleman made under license or a pretty good and near exact copy. ::Neil::

Nils, happen to have a couple of spare 236-324 burner tubes. Message an address and I'll drop one in the mail if you still have the 1060 to try it in.

Actually I don't quite agree. The design is the same but the way Primus put the burner together was a lot more complicated. Coleman had a one piece burner casting that was drilled and plugged as necessary. Primus only had part of the burner cast and the other parts were machined and threaded. Many more parts and more steps in manufacture. I can understand why they weren't a huge success.

Getting back to the question. As the design is a copy, it is possible that the threads are the same. So far I know that the generators can be used and the burner caps are interchangeable.
