Hi All, A friend just recently acquired 3 PQ chandeliers from an old church. They were polished brass with signs that they may have been that way since day one. He removed the lacquer to find the finish like a mirror. My question is did Coleman offer a polished brass version of the PQ? I assumed they were always nickel plated. Bob
Hi Bob, No Paperwork to back it up but I would not at all be surprised that they were offered this way....perhaps "Special Order" There were a lot of other products made by Coleman that left the factory with the lacquered finish over polished brass, such as some 327's...427's...The Fount and burner assembly on the Deluxe Parlor lamp that I have is like that as well. And ya look at the lanterns that were supposedly mfg'd for the French Market (Terry's Site), only supports this as well. So, although it was much less common or less "run of the mill" It was done. I saw that post by Big D. Nice Score...eh? Glenn
Polished and lacquered stuff is not common and I have not seen anything other than the French types like that but all things are possible. I could say it is just not right because they were never catalogued like this but even a big company like Coleman had a human face and I can certainly see WC doing a deal for a church by not plating over the polished product. Interesting piece. ::Neil::
