Just finished fettling this Coleman 243B petrol/white gas lantern , it's a 1951 model in very good condition & all it needed was the fuel/air metering tube that feeds the control cock manifold cleaning , a new filler cap gasket & the vapouriser stripping & cleaning , the rest got a wipe over & a de-rust.

The lamp was missing its bail handle so i knocked one up just to test the lamp , i used a 500CP butterfly mantle for its first run as these shrink back fairly!!! & i used panel wipe for the fuel.

The lamp is a great little performer for its size.

    The globe looks original too.

Yes a great find there Stu, in have taken a real shine to coleman lanterns since my 639 being the first coleman i have i am really impressed with build quality and durability, i don't think there are many coleman tanks out there with a blown base plate

Any old 242 bail will suffice.

    Very nice lanterns indeed,
what parts of your lantern is made in steel ? on mine it's just the base rest, bail & the bottom of the fount, the rest is brass exept for the alu, vent.

Great lanterns, yours seems to run very nicely, just like mine.

    Regards / Fred
