Parcel arrives, take upstairs to open, bring packaging downstairs. "Another lamp or stove then?" It's just spare parts dear... Sorry about the non-standard colour, what was a nice chromed tank had started going rusty so has been wire brushed and treated and painted metallic red - the only colour I had left in sufficient quantity! The hood is in really good condition so it can't have been used much. Boy is it bright though! I think I need a new excuse now though!
Very nice job... My wife knows that I'm gathering X246Bs for the great X246B light-up next year so I'm safe for a while as long as I only buy X246Bs..
Hi expat very nice indeed, even though not a original Coleman colour it looks fantastic, you have done a brilliant paint job and it really suits it. It is a shame the original chrome plaiting was in bad condition and had gone rusty, i agree with your decision and would have done the same, not just to make it look nice but to preserve and protect the tank well done there
Thanks, yes it was a shame about the tank I like a good chrome finish! It took a good wire brushing (hand wire brush then a wire brush in a drill to finish off. Then Kurust rust neutraliser and Rustoleum combined rust killer and primer followed by Holts automotive paint and three layers of lacquer. The decal is the original one glued back on with craft glue in lieu of a new one...
lol! Being found out and having a lame see-through excuse! Also the needing to join lamp & stove collectors anonymous... Doesn't help that my parents are visiting and Dad takes a dim view of the number of lanterns and stoves that he has seen. Which is why I'm glad that most are out of sight
Dad needs to pay me a visit after which he will view the light scatter of lamps you have seem more like responsible collecting. I am not in any way denigrating your pile but if he can only see some then that is a light scatter. Here we have walkways between lamps to enable progress through the house. ::Neil::
I am a self-confessed lampiaddictionist (think that is how you spell it!) and a fully paid-up member of LAA (Lampy Addicts Anonymous) What you have to do when you get the first symtoms of Extreme Excessive lampilitis (EEL), is to stop buying lamps and give them away immediately You can contact me by PT if I can help you with your addiction ; I will help relieve the addiction by accepting your lamps, thereby assisting you to combat the problem. Trust me I am am an expert in this matter. Best regards, and hope that your condition continues . Steve.
Not hardly. It would in any case be a group of one 'cos there are not enough collectors anywhere near me. Or rather if there are I don't know any of them. Nearest will be around 21 miles I guess so local is not the word. Anyway that implies I am on the lampy waggon whereas I am seriously trying to overload said waggon with lamps. Gettin there too. ::Neil::
Thanks guys! It's the stoves that are more out of control than lamps - I'm a little late to the lamp party so Royal Fail's new "they're dangerous" policy is more than just a little tedious... I have decided though that I have enough Tilleys (unless a FL, table lamp or Pork Pie happens along at reasonable cost) so that's one avenue of collection closed!
There are probably a few here in Aus that qualify for Lampaholics Anon ( no admissions mind ) but group therapy here would be a lot more ambitious than Neil`s 21 miles the nearest CPL member to me would be around 300+ Km`s
