I got lucky when I was driving to parents residence to help, then I stopped by grocery in a small town between Ålborg and Viborg to buy a sodapop. The vendor was going into retirement after 55 years as a grocer. He had this lamp standing in his shop with a price-tag on but the box was sadly missing. I came out in the summerheat with a lamp and a sodapop. I have the lust but havent got the heart to light it up and changed nothing since the trade. Now its a shelf-queen. Claus C
Brilliant score Claus well done there, it is really nice seeing a beautiful old lantern in mint condition. I love the shape and style of the plaited tank on the 1320, it is the flange on the bottom that sets it off, and the enamelled hood being in perfect condition really sets the lantern off. Is this lantern for spirit, as the 1320 label has other lettering which looks like for/fur spirit
Thanks Mr. Optimus. Yes the lamp is for spirit and has got the original bigger hole in the jet for this. The vendor/grocer just took it down from the shelf and appoligized the box was missing, but explained it was just taken out of the box for people to see what it was. He had it for sale always. Once I bought a "Tekno"-toytruck that way too from a toystore. Its very odd and rare to see. Imagine how many times he counted this item when he did the accounting up evry year for the tax. Claus C

What a fine find! It really does have a classic look about it. I need to take more rides in the country. It is indeed a blessing and a curse to find an old unfired lamp or lantern. On one hand you want to see it working, on the other you want to preserve it in it's pristine original condition. Tough choice. I have several in this category, and the urge got the better of me only once. I lit a virgin AGM 3016. Regretted it ever since, as the bright shiny red ventilator turned somewhat matte and never looked the same again. Dan
Yes that is always a tough call! To light it, or to leave it... Personally I would have left this one untouched. The 1320 is not a rare lantern in any way. A never used one is at least a bit rarer, and if I wanted one to use, I'd rather go for another one.
Oh, yes! I had forgotten about that one. Well, alcohol is a picky fuel for pressure lamps in my experience. It's not necessarily a case of being an used lamp with that other one. That's just how they are... Another reason to let this one stay un-lit as I see it.
