Working on a Petromax 829 lantern, can't get kero to come out of the rapid pre-heater, only air coming out. I've disassembled it, and air blows through the pick-up tube. Any help on next steps is greatly appreciated.

The preheater tip has three holes, most likely the center one, which sprays fuel is clogged, you could soak the part in vinegar for half an hour and brush it with a toothbrush to dislodge any varnish or debris in it.

Go to Chapter 15, picture 43,

Thanks for the reply. Though I had it clear, but center hole was plugged. Working great now.

Yeah that happen a lot to my Petromax and the clones if I use slightly dirty kerosene. The skinny little tube gets clogged up easily. When that happens, I disassemble the rapid heater and force compressed air out the tube and nozzle.

There is a specific pricker for that jet. (It's much smaller than the burner jet.) Also, I've found that the wire inside of a produce tie is the perfect size for cleaning out the fuel pick-up tube.
