Hi can someone tell me the diammeter (at the base) and the height of the globe for the 24x series lanterns because I'm looking into having a straight sided globe made for my 247. Thanks
247 should have a bulge globe. However if you have to have a straight one then talk to Fred Kuntz because they make a straight cylinder globe for model 242 which is the right size. ::Neil::
Thanks for the reply Neil, I know they should be bulbous but I may be able to have a straight sided one made foc, but not having a similar Coleman I've no idea of the dimensions.
The standard Optimus 200 glass fits. I have just tried it on my 242B. They are aproximately 90mm x 106mm.
Thanks Nils, while you can get an idea of the diameter it's much harder to guess what the height should be. Cheers Trevor
Early Coleman Canada 242 lanterns were factory supplied with straight sided borosilicate chimneys in 1932 and possibly into 1933. Coleman Canada 24x series lanterns from the 1930s and 1940s occasionally show up with straight sided mica chimneys which are thought to be replacements provided to dealers by Coleman to give lantern owners a cheaper or less breakable option than glass.
