Found this at my local market today. It was in it's box with instructions and a spares kit. I don't think the glass is original as it is not marked Optimus. In nice condition, it even had a good mantle The fully frosted glass makes it a little awkward to prime and light but I can live with it. No fettling needed, just fuel and a wipe over: Terry
The glass is a later replacement and has come off a gas lamp. Optimus used this type of glass for their gas lamps but they had the Optimus logo as well. Maybe there were other brand gas lamps that used this shape also.
Although I washed the glass yesterday, today I noticed that it had a definite yellow tint to it. Finally figured out that it was burned on nicotine. The previous owner must have been a heavy smoker. Just spent an hour scrubbing with sugar soap. One patch refuses to move but it is 95% white now .
I lied. I couldn't live with the full frosting. It ain't pretty, but I solved the problem of the fully frosted glass using my Dremel. A felt wheel with metal polishing rouge and I managed to polish away an area of frosting so I can now see the spirit cup . It took about half an hour, but I can now see what I'm doing . Terry
Nice. Good that the neiboor knows about my thing for these lamps Came by to chat and dropped of a nice 3/4 frosted glas globe that fitt the 930.
