Has anyone had any dealings with ebay buyer ping5524? He has just bought a couple of my items and the address in Sutton, Surrey looks suspiciously like a distribution park address.

You could well be right Jean. Not heard of them before but did some Googling and there appears to be a link to 'Shopping in UK for You' which appears to be run by someone called 'Jesse James'.

This link will take you to the site but it is in Chinese (Google Translate does enough for you to get the gist of it) - Link

If you scroll down to the chat area of the link and click on 'Jesse James' it takes you to a blog which suggests that JJ is a Taiwanese woman working as a housekeeper in England who moves with the family to France each summer. The address in Surrey may be the residence where she works?

They seem to have a shop on a Taiwanese auction site selling pressure lamps:

Terry, the name Jesse James doesn't fill me with confidence - wasn't he an outlaw in the Wild West? I must point out though that not everyone with the initials JJ is an outlaw!

James, that looks more likely but not to say buyer is a rogue. He has good feedback and I recognise some of his sellers.

Theres a lot of these middlemen appearing...kglpass8 have recently bought one of my items of ebay (they havn't paid for 6 days so watch this space) however another of the Phoenix lot bought an Aladdin heater a couple of months ago with no problems,it took ages to get my feedback which i recon is the time it took for them to ship it to the far east and the real buyer to send positive feedback,I'm giving them time to pay, however with more problems with shipping lamps overseas like the USPS 'con' these middlemen may be the way that a lot of our overseas sales go.I'm sending fully insured to a UK address with a signature required so am pretty positive it'll be ok like the other sale,There is an operator in cambridgeshire doing the same sort of buying for Russian customers,,,

As I've always maintained, if you have any cause for concern then don't ship...

You are under no obligation whatsoever to complete a deal that you think may not be totally above board.

But not without going through the correct ebay resolution process , or if you withdraw the item you are open to negative feedback , or have i missed something?

Ebay rule "Sellers are permitted to exclude bidders at any time prior to the listing close and are free to cancel unwelcome bids. After a seller has cancelled a bid, the bidder may not place a new bid without the seller's permission. Buyers who do not meet the seller’s terms as outlined in the item listing are also not permitted to bid on or buy the item."

If you include in your listing a term that you will not ship to forwarding agents then you do not have to complete the sale, as the buyer has not met your terms.

Most of the re-shippers can be spotted by a seller as they usually have 5000+ feedback and 100% rating. They keep the 100% because they only buy, never sell, and a seller can't give negative feedback to a buyer. So if you get a bidder with 100% and 5632 feedback, check the bidders 'feedback as a seller'. If there is none, then the bidder is a re-shipper and you are free to cancel their bid under the 'unwelcome bidder' rule.

Your last paragraph is spot on,,100% pos with most saying very slow payer. as for me the listing had finished with them the winning bidder,,,I didn't cancel their bid as it was probably sniped, and they weren't in my phoenix banned bidders, (just outbidding another problem ebayer from lincolnshire!)

I never ship before the money is in the bank. Does ebay.uk make you ship prior to payment?

    Hi,
no Al, we allways get 'payment' before shipping however ebay/paypal have the option to take it back from me if there's a problem and there's nothing that I can do about it.
I've just rec'd payment from the phoenix buyers who have given their details as
Intercommerce America Inc so it'll be shipped off to them shortly insured and on a signed for courier.

Personally I just wouldn't ship to them full stop...

Yes you can still get the money back if they later do a charge back provided you shipped by a trackable method and I have done so in the past but frankly it's hassle I do without.

Far easier not to ship in the first place and re list with the bidder blacklisted.
